This contemporary home was designed by New York Architects Murdock Young. To view more detail visit their website www.murdockyoung.com/projects/ stefansky-residence

The brief was to design a contemporary garden in keeping with the house and to blend the two together to create a modern garden that is also a functional family space.

ORIGIN NY Murdock Young imageORIGIN New York garden before The design focuses around a spacious smooth cut natural stone patio with hardwood deck segments, which are under lit at night. The rectangular window shape from the house has been used throughout the design - it’s repeated in the free standing rendered wall windows and the decking strips. ORIGIN NY Murdock Young image2 Through the large lawn are non-slip, toughened, opaque glass stepping stones, which light up at night leading the way to a ‘floating’ patio. The patio is sitting on a hidden concrete plinth, which gives the illusion that the patio floats. This effect is further enhanced at night by a concealed lighting strip under the overhanging lip of the patio. ORIGIN NY PlanORIGIN NY model garden
